Coronavirus effects on Piano lessons and events 2020

Lessons
I am intending to carry on as normal for as long as possible. I have put safety recommendations in place as follows:
Exams
ABRSM has cancelled all exams until July and they will advise us at that point whether this will continue for the remainder of the year.
This means that those who were planning to sit Grade 5 theory in June, in order to sit Grade 6 practical exam at the end of the year will no longer be able to do either exam. One option is that we prepare the pieces etc as if the exam were going ahead but I arrange for a colleague to take a mock exam later in the year. You would then still get a detailed report and be able to move on to the next grade next year.
The same can be done for any other students who would like a goal for the year.
I have had no word from Trinity College yet so at this stage it seems that their exams are still going ahead. I will update you if I hear otherwise.
Recitals
Due to restrictions on gatherings which will probably only become stricter as time progresses, I won’t be holding any major student recitals for the foreseeable future.
I may still be able to hold small recitals at my home, particularly for any of those sitting diploma exams but it will obviously depend on the situation at the time.
Competitions
No word as yet but I will keep you updated – I think it is very unlikely that they will go ahead.
...........................................
If anyone finds themselves under financial constraint, please speak to me as I believe that Music and the Arts in general are hugely important for our mental and emotional wellbeing in times of difficulty, and my main goal as always, is to try to serve the best interests of my students.

Lessons
I am intending to carry on as normal for as long as possible. I have put safety recommendations in place as follows:
- The piano keyboard and door handles are regularly cleaned and disinfected
- Students are all required to wash their hands before coming into the music room
- I will cancel lessons for the week if I am even slightly unwell and would expect students to do the same
- My philosophy in this is that we should all consider the person coming along after us and do everything we can to keep them safe. By doing all of the above we can all feel more secure.
